Our Business

Northern Conquest Charters is a Townsville based operation that caters for all types of fishing experiences. Whether it be trolling the outer reef for dogtooth tuna, casting a popper at Giant Trevally, enticing a coral trout with a soft plastic or some old fashioned bottom bashing NCC staff have the skills to both find the fish and instruct you with these and many other techniques. Other tours include reef and estuary where we take our clients north to the fabulous Hinchinbrook channel for Barramundi, Mangrove Jacks and Mud Crabs. Included in our extended tours are shore stopovers at Yanks Landing on Orpheus Island and snorkelling opportunities on the Great Barrier Reef to break up the trip. Spear fishing is also catered for. We are a family owned business who pride ourselves on delivering an incomparable experience to the fishing enthusiast. We operate fishing charters from 1 day to 7 day tailor made for our clients expectations with an emphasis on total commitment to making their experience truly memorable.

Our Town

Townsville as a destination cannot be equalled for ease of entry and exit with flights to all the major capital cities daily. Magnetic Island is a tropical jewel in the crown of the Townsville tourist area, it's easily accessible by ferry or car barge and is a great place to unwind. Our staff would happily transfer clients to and from the airport to ensure all times are met. In regards to transportation of fish, again it couldn't be easier as we will freeze down, box up and ship anywhere in Australia. Enjoy some of the many experiences on offer in Townsville, North Queensland's capital. From rainforest to the wonders' of the Great Barrier Reef, boasting great accommodation, sensational restaurants, a Casino and many other attractions. Our People

Chief Skipper: Eddie Giles

Eddie has a Master Class 5 ticket and is the chief skipper for our boats "Sir Reel" and "Reelistic". When he isn't on our boats, which isn't very often, Eddie lives on a boat and loves his life on the high seas. His experience as a seaman and fisherman is second to none. Eddie loves to have a chat and a laugh with our clients. His commitment to customer satisfaction and his work ethic really shine on our boats.

Skipper: Les Youman

Les has 25 years experience fishing North Queensland's waters. He is Townsville's most respected charter boat skipper, not only for his fishing knowledge and ability to locate fish but also for his people skills and general attitude to what he does. He is also a 'fishing nut' and a pretty good cook to boot. Les is also a great photographer and a well respected writer of fishing articles for several publications.

Skipper: Shaun Watson

Shaun is one of a kind. While he might look like a pirate, his fishing and boating experience can be seen in his every move. Shaun has spent his entire life in and on the water, fishing, sailing, surfing and diving. More commonly found lazing about on "rag and stick" boats, his Master Class 5 and MED tickets see him flitting from boat to boat in engine rooms or on the helm. He lives by the motto "The beatings will continue until crew morale improves" which ensures that his motley crew are a very well behaved and happy bunch.

Chief Deckie: Chris Green

Chris has been working on charter boats since age 15. His experience with all things fishing related is extensive. Chris is the chief 'go to' man on the decks of both our boats and is able to converse with the most experienced and keen fishermen through to those who are just beginning. Chris is friendly, enjoys telling a joke and loves to have a yarn with our clients. Ask him to show off his knot collection and challenge him with a knot he might not have heard of.

Chef: Caillan Kelly

Caillan's experience as a commercial chef can be seen as he slaves away in the galley preparing the most delicious meals for our clients' enjoyment. Caillan is also a keen fisherman. He loves nothing more than being onhand when our clients break the records on our boats. He is an allrounder and also operates as a deckie  Caillan enjoys cooking food that would not be out of place in a quality mainland restaurant. Caillan adds the edge with his ability in the kitchen that really makes our trips memorable as far as tucker goes.

The Ladies: Lynda, Sarah & Katie

These ladies are unbelievably versatile, they work in the office conversing with clients, work as competent deckies and cook up a storm as superb chefs on our boats. With inexhaustible skills, Lynda, Sarah and Katie can be seen booking trips, preparing meals, rigging rods, filleting fish and much much more. Their lovely smiles combined with their skills and their mad keen attitude toward fishing will convince everyone that these ladies are hot stuff!

The Deckies: Matt, Benny, Andrew, Bevan & Jesse

These boys are a very skilled group. Their experience on boats and with fishing is extensive. They make up the rest of our crew, providing professional assistance to our clients with anything they might require. These blokes are committed to excellent customer service and their professional attitudes leave nothing to be desired. Simply ask them how mad keen on fishing they are and they will tell you all about it.
